Positive y values allow it to rise, negative y values cause it to fall. The y value will be the rise or fall of the point. Negative x values push it to the left and positive values move it to the right. The x value will be the trajectory left or right of the origin. In an ordered pair you will find two coordinates in the format (x, y). The bold vertical (up-down) line is where you will find the y-axis. The horizontal (left-right) line is the realm of the x-coordinate.
